He is often called the “Father of his Country” because of his leadership during the Revolutionary War and his role in shaping the new nation.
And the final fun fact about George Washington: He was an avid reader and had a personal library of over 900 volumes.
His home, Mount Vernon, is located in Virginia and is open to visitors today.
